Let's Make A Deal

Are there any people out there who like folding laundry, and putting it away? .....because, I'd rather go to the dentist and have a few teeth pulled! I despise that I have to do it ALL THE TIME, it's a task that NEVER gets completed.

Even when you think you're all done, you look down and there you have it, (the clothes on your body) more laundry that will soon need to be washed, folded and put away! I CAN'T STAND IT! I have other things to think about (and do). But this darn laundry keeps nagging me! The washing is not so bad, I can handle that part...but the rest of it,.....FORGET IT!

I'm drowning in laundry here! HELP! Please save me! We generate incredible amounts of laundry in this household. I think the kids go through at least two outfits a day (each!). (And it's still not like they run around looking CLEAN!!??!)

Two additional people in the family (small ones even), have not doubled our laundry.....it has multiplied it by the square root of IF I HAVE TO MATCH UP ONE MORE PAIR OF SOCKS I'M GOING TO SCREAM!!!! (loudly).

There must be some people who enjoy it. I mean, there are people who enjoy darn near everything.....there are people who jump out of airplanes for fun....for cripe sake!!

I remember volunteering to clean the latrines in High School at Girl Scout Camp (Will you get over it? I already told you I was a nerd.........yes, girl scout camp in High School).

My best friend Kathy and I would always be first to raise our hands. The other girls looked at us like we were crazy, (it's totally disgusting!) but we knew,...........we knew. The latrines were the easy way out. We had been coming to Camp Lakamaga since we were 5. Plug your nose, put on some rubber gloves, grab the brush, a little scrubby scrubby on the seat, and around the side and, you were done!!

We'd walk out to look at the lake, talk ,and have extra time to relax while the other girls slaved away washing dishes, sweeping the mess hall floor, or gathering and transporting firewood.

Seriously, maybe we can make a deal. I'm ready for a day of taking the easy way out. I'll scrub your toilets, if you'll take care of my laundry. Any takers??

Laundry is a never-ending battle at our house, and we don't have children. Just me and a school-teacher husband. He goes through at least two outfits each day because he can't do housework, yard work or exercise in school clothes. And the day we have to turn our guest room into a kid's room is going to be tragic, since we pile clean laundry on the guest bed in hopes that it'll be folded within a month.

I'm hoping to train our cat to fold clothes. I'll let you know how it goes. And if you find a solution to the battle that is folding laundry, please keep us posted :)

May I pick what's behind Door #3 - like scrubbing your floors with my own toothbrush?

I HATE folding and putting away.

Pointless. Pointless. Pointless.

I am a weirdo. I enjoy laundry. So you can come clean my toilets anytime you want and I'll do your laundry :)

Yes!!! Thanks Shellspann! I'll be over 6am tomorrow. (You don't mind watching my kids while I scrub do ya?) :)

there is not a woman alive who enjoys the folding and putting away portion of the laundry - but i will admit a great sense of accomplishment when i manage to get it all done

here's a trick i do -
i wash it all and dry it all and heap it into the two or three baskets

after the kids are in bed, i will sit down to watch my tv shows and fold ALL of the clothes in one fail swoop

the next morning while everyone is doing their 'thing' i put them all away

works for me

I don't mind laundry...I do feel overwhelmed at times, though, when it just keeps piling up and piling up and the more I do, the more I have to do. What's UP with that?

Oh I am soo with you...HATE folding laundry. Hate it. When I lived in a bigger town, there was a place that washed/dried/folded laundry for $1/lb. Ummm...WORTH IT.

Hoovering is my weak spot - I will very gladly take your laundry on if you take my hoovering on ;)
(geography may get in the way of this...)

You know...I think we should have more housework swapping in society, would make life so much easier!

Hate laundry, taking groceries out of the car and putting them away and doing dishes. For us, it's dishes. They are always piled in the sink. No matter how many times I wash them. I turn around for 1 second and the glass that my daughter drank one sip of the tea she HAD to have is in the sink! Drives me crazy.

Oooh, so tempting, but honestly, I would rather clean the bathroom than fold clothes any day. I am dreading the pile of laundry in my room that I need to tackle. As you can see, I am putting it off as much as possible. Hence the blogging. Good luck finding someone!

I'd do your laundry. Some weird organizational part of me (granted, it's a *small* part) enjoys it, if only there weren't so many other more immediate tasks that needed to be done. I'm with the previous commenter who suggested folding while watching tv at night.

And for me? You could carry in my groceries from the car and put them away. It's like torture after hauling yourself and kids around the store, loading everything up, unloading at home, and putting things where they go. A monumental task.

Laundry is my nemesis too. It really doesn't ever end...EXCEPT ....back in the day when my washer was in need of repairs and we'd load up every soiled garment in the house and go to the laundramat. Even then I appreciated the fact that at least it all got done at once. Our present day convenient washers and dryers just lend themselves to a never ending job.

Heather of the EO said...

Um, actually. I will take you up on that. I'll come fold and put away, if you come scrub my bathrooms.

DEAL! :)

I don't hate laundry. The key for me is picking a day or two to do it, sort it all into baskets then just power drive through it. Fold while watching tv and make everyone help in putting it away.

Unloading the dishwasher on the other hand.....

I'm surprised you didn't comment about the inter-gallactic space warp inside the dryer that seems to swoop up a random sock and space warp it to another dryer on the other side of the continent. Are you ever going to match up any of my pile of singular's (socks) sitting by my dresser? I just might go to work in the morning with two different socks on by accident.

Susan Berlien (warmchocmilk) said...

Oh, that intergallactic black hole in our dryer is a whole other issue. :) LOL

I hate folding clothes so I hang them (except undies). But (and don't hate me) I LOVE folding towels. I worked for a Linens N Things knockoff store and learned how to fold them in the fancy, pretty way. So I love folding the towels.

I have delegated my older two girls (6 and 8) to fold their own. I make a pile with their clothes, and they have to sort and put it away in the right drawers. Granted I'm still left with the 3yo's and mine and my husbands, but at least I've done away with two of the sets of clothes. We also taught the older two how to do their OWN wash. That way I can never be blamed because they ran out of socks or underwear. Delegate!!!

I think we kinda share a brain. ; ) I think the EXACT same thing about the clothes on my body, as I'm doing all the dang-blasted laundry. And now we are about to have even more (although it will be pink...)

I get you, I totally do...

I'm with you. I HATE that pile of single socks that just grows and grows and is a constant reminder that I am not quite finished the job...

I don't mind laundry at all. But there is a very specific reason why I never complain about it. For details and pictures, view this post I wrote - http://www.mandylifeafter30.com/2009/08/hurricane-katrina-my-story.html. But in summary, I went through Hurricane Katrina and the facility where I lived for five days required us to help out in some way. I was tasked with doing laundry for rescue workers - fireman, policeman, K-9 unit folks. For them, clean laundry that was not covered in rainwater and mud meant so much. So that put laundry in a whole new perspective for me. I did laundry for several HOURS all day long for three days and there were piles of dirty clothes lined in hallways. Again, a very unique situation but one you may want to read about so you realize that it isn't so bad. ;-)

If I could dig my way out of my own pile of laundry, I'd be right over to help.

Although actually, I stopped folding the girls' clothes a few weeks ago. My littlest one likes to "help" by taking everything out of her drawer as soon as I put her clothes away, so I eventually started shoving it all back in without refolding. Then I realized it didn't make a bit of difference: not a single extra wrinkle in those cotton kid-sized dresses. Amazing!

Get Real Girl said...

oh I totally agree. Every time I think wow, I have everything cleaned and put away, I will notice more clothes in the hamper. I hate it.

I can't wait until I can teach my girls to do it.

Amen, sister. I am always at battle with my laundry and it keeps sending for reinforcements. Not fair.

I have a load washing and two waiting as I type. I also have two loads that were washed last week that still haven't made it out of the baskets yet in the kids' rooms, lol.

they should invent something that folds the clothing

Oh you said. Freakin' laundry. I just throw it down the basement stairs until it becomes a laundry troll and I can't ignore it.

Thanks so much for stopping by WOW and leaving that kind comment. I really appreciate it.

Sorry babe - I'd rather clean the bathrooms, too. I don't mind the folding so much because I try to fold while watching tv. But I hate to put it away.

you are so on. and you will be getting screwed royally because the crust of urine in my bathroom would make a rat throw up.

I am sending a courier for your laundry and I will have the gas masks ready for you when you get here ~rubbing hands together~

Folding laundry isnt so bad, but I hate putting it away. So instead, we just live out of laundry baskets.

I hate laundry too! My other chore that never seems to get done...the dishes. Like laundry, there is always more left to do.
